On 3rd January, 2006 John Collins resigned because of the strong opposal from local media and fans.
There was a remarkable change in the team in 2007 season. They opened the season by defeating Pittsburgh Steelers with a 34-7 and finally, clinched the series with 10-6. This was the best record of the team since 1994. Crennel, then coach of the team signed 2 year extension contract after this notable victory.
