Village of Zoar

Ohio has several festivities and events they celebrate the whole year round. One of the most popular is the Zoar Village’s Lantern Tour’s of the Ghosts.

As the clamor for religious freedom became widespread in Germany, several members of this separatist group came to migrate to the United States sometime in 1817. As they settled in Ohio, many of them formed communal societies that lasted for a good 79 years. These communal societies soon became one of the renowned communal societies ever recorded in the history of the United States.

Today, the Zoar community still stands with the old buildings and the town hall which became a popular landmark therein. Ghost stories abound in the village. These edifices believed to have become haunted by the founders and forefathers of this ghost village.
