Recorded to be the largest conical mound in the state of Ohio & also in the eastern part of the United States of America, the Miamisburg Mound is a pre-historic construction. Archeological survey suggests that it was probably constructed by the Adena Indians sometime between 800BC – 100AD. This construction was built on a 100ft high bluff & the circumference measured more than 877 feet. It should however be remembered its original height was more that seventy feet.
Visitors can treat themselves to spectacular view of the surrounding park by climbing one hundred & sixteen steps from the base to the summit. Located on Mound Avenue, just one mile south of exit 44 – State Route 725- & three miles towards the west of exit 42 in the County of Montgomery, this park is spread over an area of thirty-seven acres with numerous picnic tables & a huge playground.
